The 7 Biggest VMA Moments You Need To Know

The highlights from the MTV Video Music Awards.

Katy Perry And Riff Raff Dressed Up Like Who?

Britney Spears challenged Katy Perry to do her best impression in 24 hours, and the "Dark Horse" singer decided "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." She rolled up to the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet in a Lamborghini with rapper Riff Raff wearing denim ensembles reminiscent of Britney and Justin's matching outfits at the 2001 American Music Awards.

VMA Red Carpet Fashion

Besides, Riff Raff and Katy Perry's outfits, there was definitely a lot red and white on the red carpet. Cher Lloyd, Demi Lovato and Rita Ora channeled their inner Jessica Rabbit while Jason Derulo, Jordin Sparks and "Teen Wolf" star Holland Roden looked simply stunning in white. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift was pantless, Iggy Azalea rocked Versace, and Nicki Minaj wore a sparkly snake print dress.

Relive The VMA Pre-Show

Fifth Harmony performed "Bo$$" and Charli XCX sang "Boom Clap" during the VMA pre-show, and they made a great debut at the awards show.

Common's Important Message

Before presenting the the Moonman for Best Hip Hop video, Common brought attention to what is going on in Ferguson and asked the audience to take a moment of silence to remember Michael Brown. Drake won for "Hold On, We're Going Home" featuring Majid Jordan, but in his absence Common accepted on his behalf and closed his speech with "Spread love y'all. Peace."

Usher's Head-Banging Performance With Nicki

Although not as provocative as Miley's 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke, Usher brought Nicki Minaj onstage to rap on his latest single "She Came To Give It To You" and banged his head on her butt and then slapped it! Oh, he was also playing the guitar.

Who Accepted Miley's Award? Not Her

Miley Cyrus won Video of The Year for "Wrecking Ball," but instead of accepting the award, she got her date, a homeless young man named Jesse to raise awareness about displaced youth in America, who directed people to her Facebook where they can donate to end this social problem.

Beyonce Cried Onstage

Jay Z with Baby Blue in tow presented his wife Beyonce with the Michael Jackson Video Music Award after her show-stopping performance. The "Drunk In Love" singer tearfully accepted while her daughter clapped and said, "Yay! Mommy!"
