Nick Jonas Purity Ring Is 'Not Something I'm Doing Anymore'

Nick took off the ring, but still has his set of values.

Nick Jonas has certainly made some big moves in his life as of late, parting ways with his brothers, gearing up for the release of his solo album and making the decision to no longer wear his purity ring.

For years, the "Jealous" singer proudly showed off his ring, which he and his brothers Joe and Kevin wore as a promise "to ourselves and to God that we'll stay pure till marriage," they said in 2008.

Well, we all know Nick isn't married (he is dating former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo), but he has decided to part ways with the ring.

"This is a real growth in me and not something I'm doing anymore," he explained to HuffPost Live. "But I've got my set of values, things that are important to me now at this point in my life and that's all that matters. I've had an incredibly intense journey with faith and religion and my own growth. My belief in God is still very strong and important to me as a person and I think that's all that should matter. I grew up in a church environment and still have love for the church."

Like Joe, who told Vulture magazine that he lost his virginity at age 20, Nick isn't having a difficult time being open about his decision.

"I think that what's interesting is that, at this stage of my life, a lot of people know more about me than don't," he told E! News. "So you have to come to gripes with that and either accept that and say, 'Well, if you know, here is the open book of my life and my world,' or you close down a little bit, and when you close down, I don't think you can thrive in your art or in being the person you need to be."
