An exclusive new trailer for Suicide Squad just premiered at the MTV Movie Awards, and it's incredibly vexing, as Harley Quinn would say, to be so close and yet so far away from the film's August 5 release.
The brand-new footage reveals why and how this band of bad guys got together. Led by lethal sharpshooter Deadshot (Will Smith) and the delightfully unhinged Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), this squad of villains is assembled by the government to form a black ops task force that has very little chance of survival. However, the chance of them going balls-to-the-wall insane on every mission is incredibly high.
The sneak peek also gives us a closer look at Ben Affleck's Batman, who we see chasing after the Joker (Jared Leto) and Harley in his fully customized, armored new Batmobile in some sort of kinetic flashback sequence. Here's Batfleck flexing atop the Joker's shiny purple Vaydor:
Mistah J, however, doesn't seemed phased by Bat's physical prowess.
Rounding out the gang of violent, hilarious and morally bankrupt hell-raisers are Boomerang (Jai Courtney), who's seen not-so-subtly flirting with the incredibly badass Katana (Karen Fukuhara). Seriously, Katana will f**k you up.
Slipknot (Adam Beach), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), military man Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), whose explosive powers -- and soft side -- are on full display in this new footage. He's clearly Harley's favorite. (Shhh. Don't tell Deadshot.)
Speaking of Harley, everyone's favorite wacky troublemaker is still the best damn member of the Suicide Squad. She’s even got her own theme song to prove it. She's so wonderfully ~ vexing ~ with her studded gun and baseball bat.
Plus, our girl knows when to hit the brakes on superheroing and grab a drink -- with a fancy umbrella, no less! HQ has impeccable taste.
Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
