Get Psyched! The 'Suicide Squad' Cast Is Bringing An Exclusive Clip To The Movie Awards
After watching superhero after superhero save the day and bring joy to the human race, I'm ready to watch some bad guys mess some shit up. Superman and Batman are cool and all, but sometimes you just want to watch carnage unfold in the superhero world.
Cue Suicide Squad, which follows a group of super-villains hired by a covert government agency to carry out perilous missions in order to get out of prison faster. Featuring baddies like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), the bad guys — or should we say badder guys? — won't know what hit 'em. Not to mention, the Joker (Jared Leto) promises to keep things extra interesting.
Get More:
While the film doesn't hit theaters until August 5, the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 10, have all your Suicide Squad needs covered -- Smith, Leto, Robbie, and Delevingne are bringing an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from their badass movie. Here's what we want need to see:
Joker and Harley Quinn ~moments~
In the comics, Harley Quinn falls in love with the Joker, so we want to see the two together. (Looks like they're riding in a car together for like half a second in the trailer.) Based on what little we saw of her in the trailer, Robbie's HQ looks like she's not to take no for an answer. From anyone. The Joker and HQ have a super complicated history, though, so who knows what's in store.
Origin stories
We briefly see Harley Quinn's transformation in the trailer, but personally, I'm more interested in seeing Enchantress's backstory portrayed onscreen, or even Killer Croc's.
Batman in action
Thanks to IMDb, we know Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Suicide Squad, but we've yet to find out what his true role in the film is. Does he go head-to-head with the Joker? Or go all up in Captain Boomerang's face? Can he hold his own against Killer Croc? We don't know. (Although, we probably do.)
A kick-ass fight scene
The trailer gave us some of that, but with all the rapid cuts, we never got to see the whole squad together in action, hacking off some targets. And if the fight scene could be set to another song by Queen, that'd be much appreciated.
The Joker's "toys"
In the trailer, the Joker threateningly tells someone, "I can't wait to show you my toys." Knowing the crafty bad guy, they can't be anything remotely good.
Killer Croc eating a poor, unfortunate soul
"He's a crocodile and he eats people," Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) notes as he looks through the team's files. Since this film will be the first live-action one to portray Killer Croc, we want him to go BIG. He leaps up and snatches a dude in the trailer, but that was the extent of it.
Jason Todd's demise
Batman's second Robin was murdered by the Joker and not-so-subtly referenced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with his costume graffitied by the Joker. Since that was all BvS gave us on the subject, it'd be nice to see Batfleck get angry and retaliate against the Joker in Suicide Squad. This most likely won't happen, but fingers crossed it does in the next Batman reboot. Of course, some people think Jason Todd actually becomes the Joker, so there's that.
Scott Eastwood actually doing something
In the trailer, there's a quick shot of Mr. Hottie McHotterson standing there as Harley Quinn talks about the voices in her head, and then a later one of him fist-bumping a dude. There've been rumors that he's playing Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing, but it's really only Internet chatter. And since IMDb doesn't even list who he's playing, it's gotta be a great, big surprise. Give us something, DCEU!
