Chris Pratt Continues His Perfection By Sharing The Moving Story Of His Son's Premature Birth

'I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he’d live long enough that I could keep them.'

Just when we thought we couldn't love Chris Pratt any harder, he spoke about his son Jack's premature birth while addressing attendees at Friday's March of Dimes Celebration of Babies. And because it was Chris Pratt, obviously it was funny and touching and sweet and perfect.

The actor – who totally won Thanksgiving with a family portrait of wife Anna Faris and son Jack – said of his son's nine-week-early birthweight of 3 pounds, 12 ounces, "That's a decent-sized bass... very small for a human."

“I’ve done all kinds of cool things as an actor – I’ve jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium, but none of it means anything compared to being somebody’s daddy,” Pratt said. While describing visits with Jack in the NICU, he recalled, “I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he’d live long enough that I could keep them.”

And as evidenced by that Thanksgiving photo, Jack made it through with flying colors. “Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy who loves monster trucks and ‘Daniel Tiger,’ and, believe it or not, loves vegetables. Broccoli and cherry tomatoes are his favorite foods," said Pratt.

And here we thought visiting sick children while dressed as Star-Lord was the most heart-liquifying thing Pratt could possibly do.
