Britney Spears And Selena Gomez’s Mutual Love May Spark A Collab

'When are we working on our actual duet?' Brit asked Sel on Twitter

A collaboration between Britney Spears and Selena Gomez — two former Disney stars who are pretty much pop music royalty — has been a long time coming. It's almost frustrating that the two haven't worked together already. But now we're officially one step closer.

Selena boasted on Snapchat Wednesday night (July 20) about how she has "technically" done a duet with Britney on the Orlando tribute song "Hands."

After seeing Selena's Snapchat being circulated on Twitter, Britney responded by asking when they were going to work on their "actual duet."

While Selena and Britney haven't collaborated on a track of their own, they have already kind of worked together, and not just on "Hands." Britney wrote a song Selena released while fronting her first musical venture, Selena Gomez & The Scene called "Whiplash." The track was intended for Britney's 2008 album Circus, but it didn't make the cut and ended up on Sel's studio album When the Sun Goes Down three years later.

"It was an honor," Selena told MTV News at the time about singing a song penned by Britney. "I just heard the song; I fell in love with it. They gave it to me, the producers who worked on it, and I came and sang and saw that she had co-written it, so I was very excited."

During Selena's We Own the Night Tour in 2011, she put together a tribute to Britney that featured all Britney's classic hits like ("...Baby One More Time," "Crazy," "I'm A Slave 4 U," and more). A few years later, Britney reached out to Sel to let her know that she was loving "Come & Get It" and tweeted that she thought her 2013 MTV Movie Awards performance was "incredible." Yeah, no big deal.

And now we wait for the epic, girl-power-driven dance track that will come out of this highly anticipated collaboration.
