Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lawrence, And More Are Best Dressed At The 2016 Oscars

Did your fave make our list?

As you're probably well aware, the Oscars are lauded as the biggest red carpet of the year. That's more pressure to put together a show-stopping look than a million picture days combined. Fortunately for the Hollywood elite, they have stylists and glam squads! These are the celebrities whose outfits we liked best. Enjoy!

Congrats to Rachel McAdams for wearing the first outfit to make me sit up and actually pay attention to the 2016 Oscars red carpet! It's sexy, slinky, an unexpected color for the pre-spring months, and gives just enough of a nod to the trendy 2000s with that racer front neckline. Plus, any dress that requires a PA follow you around and fix it so the train fans out just so is a win in my book. - Gaby Wilson

Alicia Vikander collected her first Oscar dressed as Princess Belle, basically, which means we definitely have many more Disney Princess homages in our red carpet futures. Prepare yourselves accordingly. - Maeve Keirans

Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell

88th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Gaga's red carpet look as of late have been significantly toned down compared to her outfits of years past, but that doesn't mean she's lost her edge. Her creamy white Brandon Maxwell look was classic and chic while also being both pants and a dress. On paper, it sounds like it shouldn't work, but on Gaga it works really, really well. - Erika Harwood

Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein Collection

The last time Saoirse Ronan was at the Oscars was in 2008 when she was 13. She wore a long, emerald green gown which would go on to inspire her beautiful Calvin Klein look for tonight. Eight years later, Saoirse is back at the Oscars in another emerald green gown, this time a little bit more grown-up, a little bit sparklier, and nodding back to her first Oscars dress and her home country of Ireland. Her mismatched earrings should also be noted -- you can still wear your lone earrings after you've lost their match. - EH

Depending on the photo you look at, Naomi Watts' Armani dress looks entirely different. A few things are for sure -- there are sequins, there are multiple colors, and the combo is unlike any others on the carpet. Also, Naomi, please tell me how to pull off a part this deep. Thanks! - MK

There were a few revivals of the popular 2000s one-shoulder neckline that hit the Oscars red carpet, but Olivia Munn did it best. Orange is not a color that most people can pull off, but clearly Olivia is not most people. - GW

Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé

88th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

It's no secret that the Oscars red carpet has gotten a little dull, which is why we've gotta give it up to Cate. Her ultra-textured Armani Privé gown put her above a good portion of everyone else on the red carpet, which was, as predicted, boring. It was no swan dress, but it was one of the biggest risks of the night, and it was worth it. - EH

Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad

88th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Rarely does adding a belt to your designer gown pay off, but Priyanka not only made hers look good, she made it look good. (There's a difference.) Her sheer Zuhair Murad dress paired with a deep red lip was near perfect on its own but the slim silver belt turned it up from pretty to interesting. - EH

Brie Larson in Gucci

Brie Larson? More like Blue Larson!!!!! Even though she would've looked great in, like, a cream-colored gown, her royal blue Gucci gown is way more memorable. I'm a little scared that her ability to pull off a middle part will inspire others to follow suit, but...here's hoping it doesn't. - MK

Charlize Theron in Dior

88th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

No Oscars best dressed list would be complete without the Queen of Hollywood red carpets: Charlize Theron. Here she is matching the carpet in an impossibly low neckline, looking statuesque. I'm not sure how there's still more list that can happen after Charlize, but here we go. - GW

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Jennifer Lawrence rolled up to the red carpet late, but totally delivered in Dior when she did arrive. While we were kinda expecting something red -- it is the five year anniversary of her first Oscars, after all -- she went with a black and nude combo. The flowy skirt seemed easier to walk in, too, thankfully. - MK
