But while Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker will definitely be locking lips in next summer’s “The Amazing Spider-Man,” don’t expect a simple throwback to 2002.

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, the star of “The Help” answered questions about whether we’d see a repeat of the legendary smooch.

“Why would we do an upside-down kiss? I’m not Mary Jane. I’m Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Man film,” she said. “New girl. New kiss. I wanted to do different kisses to make our mark.”

In addition to shooting straight on the types of kisses she engaged in on set, Stone also shed some additional light the tone of “The Amazing Spider-Man,” and her character’s role in it.

“This ‘Spider-Man’ actually feels very down to earth,” the “Crazy, Stupid, Love” star admitted. “It’s a love story for my character, a simple love story told in the midst of this big, big world.”

Stone, who also has "Gangster Squad" in her future in addition to the "Spider-Man" sequel, said of the current phase of her career: “It’s an incredibly exciting time. I’m part of a few movies I’m so excited about, which is fantastic. These are stories I was dying to tell, which is pretty rare, because there is so much junk out there."
