Justin Bieber On Working With Kanye West: ‘I Just Sit And Listen’

JB discussed his and 'Ye's collab and weighed in on the Drake/Meek Mill beef.

As we learned from Kanye West’s unpredictable and long-winded Video Vanguard acceptance speech at this year’s VMAs, sometimes it’s best to just sit back and let Yeezy rattle on.

Apparently, no one knows this better than Justin Bieber, who recently admitted to being left speechless by ‘Ye’s genius. In a new interview with French site Clique, the “What Do You Mean” singer spilled some details about his recording sessions with Kanye, saying they worked on music with a “really cool, really New York vibe” — but he doesn’t know if it’s going to make the album.

"Kanye’s a talker,” Justin said about their collaboration. “You get him in a room and he starts talking and ranting, I just sit and I listen. He’s been through a lot of stuff and he’s not just talking to talk, he has something to say from his heart. I just sit and listen because he’s really smart.”

Those qualities, one might say, are positively presidential. Justin’s already voiced his support for #Yeezy2020, and while we all know Kanye’s first in line for a presidential bid, what would Justin do if he were to take over the Oval Office? Turns out, he has some pretty bright ideas.

"I’d probably fix some of the gun laws,” he said. “In Canada we don’t really have any guns and there’s no gun violence. That really solves it, that’s for protection but it always ends up in some bozo's hand.”

Not a bad point.

And in another issue of national importance (not quite the same caliber, but still), Justin opted to remain totally neutral on the Drake and Meek Mill feud.

"I like them both,” he said. “Do I think Drake’s a better rapper? Yes. But I’m not going to choose between them.”

Despite Justin’s apparent love for Drizzy AND Kanye, though, neither ended up on his list of his top five MCs of all time, which he also shared with Clique: "Tupac, Mase, Nas, Biggie, Eminem. Eminem is first.”

And to prove his hip-hop know-how, JB even spit a few lines from Mase's "Feels So Good." Check it out in the interview below:
