Ever since we heard the news of Best Coast's frontwoman Bethany Cosentino creating a capsule collection for Urban Outfitters, we've been DYING to know more. Since it's for UO's Urban Renewal line, there's definitely going to be a slight vintage vibe to all her custom designed pieces, but... what inspired her collection? How did this whole thing go down? Why did Urban Outfitters choose Bethany as their go-to design gal? Noisey caught up with the singer when she was in NYC and got ALL the answers to our burning questions. Check out some snippets from the interview below!

BETHANY ON WORKING WITH URBAN OUTFITTERS: "I'm not exactly sure why they reached out." [laughs] "I started pulling images of things online. I would send these really detailed e-mails being like, 'I want these pants to have front pleats and elastic in the back, and a specific type of button and to be this color,' and they would come back and say, 'OK, we can get this material, and we can do it like this,' and we would kind of meet in the middle."

BETHANY ON HER INSPIRATION: "I thought a lot about girls that come to Best Coast shows. I thought a lot about different references in pop culture like Clueless, The Craft, Stevie Nicks, all these kinds of things that shaped my personal style."

BETHANY ON ONE OF HER FAVORITE PIECES FROM THE COLLECTION: "They're these little ruffle shorts. They're high-waisted. They're kind of similar to the pleated trousers, and they've got this really cute ruffle addition down at the bottom. I love shorts, I don't really wear a lot of pants, I wear typically shorts and dresses so I wanted to have a pair of shorts in this line that could be shorts I wear every day. I named them the 'Tour' shorts because I'll be wearing them every day on tour, pretty much."

BETHANY ON BEING INSPIRED BY 'CLUELESS:' "This [lace shirt] was inspired by a really infamous scene in Clueless where Cher is trying to find her—I can't remember the designer, it might've been Versace [ED NOTE: Cher's quote is: "Where's my white collarless shirt from Fred Segal? It's my most capable looking outfit."]—she's trying to find this top to take her driving class, and it looks like this. So, this outfit was very Clueless inspired."

BETHANY ON FASHION WEEK: "When I was living here, when I was a fashion intern [at The Fader], I would go to fashion week, and I would sit in the last row. I wouldn't have my name on the list. I'd have to pretend to be somebody else. So it really was a trip to be invited [to the Spring 2012 NYFW Helmut Lang show] and have your name on a little nameplate in the front row. To me it's just really cool because I've always loved fashion, and I've always loved dressing myself and picking out clothes and shopping and stuff, so it's nice to be recognized."
