The forthcoming Jim Carrey/Renee Zellweger comedy "Me, Myself and Irene" is set to feature Ben Folds Five, Leon Redbone, Freedy Johnston and other musicians singing covers of tunes by Steely Dan's Walter Becker and Donald Fagen.

The movie was directed by the Farrelly brothers ("There's Something About Mary"), and is due to hit screens June 23.

The musical lineup for "Me, Myself and Irene" and its soundtrack CD is: Wilco, "Any Major Dude Will Tell You"; the Brian Setzer Orchestra, "Bodhisattva"; Ben Folds Five, "Barrytown"; the Push Stars, "Bad Sneakers"; Ivy, "Only a Fool Would Say That"; Leon Redbone, "Chain Lightning"; Smash Mouth, "Do It Again"; Johnston, "Monkey in Your Soul"; Nash Kato, "Midnight Cruiser"; and Bill Goodrum, "Razor Boy."

Before the movie comes out, though, Steely Dan will be put through the smooth-jazz ringer when artists including keyboardist Jeff Lorber and saxophonists Dave Koz and Warren Hill release the instrumental tribute album No Static at All on Samson Records on May 23.

When Steely Dan's production-perfect melodies and killer hooks first hit the airwaves in the '70s, Becker and Fagen probably didn't realize that they would become beacons for fusion followers, but a listener tuning into any smooth jazz station today is as likely to hear Steely Dan as the latest Lorber.

No Static at All also will feature funk-fusion saxophonist Richard Elliot, guitarists Chieli Minucci and Doc Powell and others performing versions of "Do It Again," "FM," "Peg," "Josie," "Hey Nineteen" and more.

Steely Dan's new disc, Two Against Nature (RealAudio excerpt of title track), was released Feb. 29. The LP, the group's first studio album in two decades, is at #32 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
