'Amazing Spider-Man' Australian Trailer Shows Plenty Of New Footage

Well at least we now know the context for last week's batch of "The Amazing Spider-Man" pictures. A new Australian trailer for the movie has been released, and it teases the high school demolition scene led by the Lizard that we saw glimpses of in the previously released images.

There's plenty of new footage in the teaser, though none of it is especially spoilery. Mostly the video shows off some of the bigger action set pieces that will take place in the movie, including the aforementioned high school shakedown. But it's the flying scenes that really caught our eye, and we're excited to see how they play out on the big screen in 3D.

With the flick only a little more than a month away from hitting theaters, the marketing campaign is being very concise about "The Amazing Spider-Man's" premise. As this trailer so clearly lies out, the movie follows Peter Parker on the search for his missing parents. Along the way he becomes wanted by the police, who are led by the father of his love interest (Emma Stone), and has to face off against his father's former colleague (Rhys Ifans), who ends up turning into the villainous Lizard. Oh, and this altered origin story may have Parker's genetic structure set up so that he would have become Spider-Man no matter what.

At least this trailer also showcases the playfulness in the film. We've seen some of Spider-Man's quips in previously released footage, but his sarcasm is very evident in this teaser. Considering the movie has been touted as being a darker origin story, it's nice to see that it will likely be a lot of fun as well.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” stars Andrew Garfield, Stone, Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. Directed by Marc Webb, it’s due in theaters in 2D, 3D and IMAX on July 3.
