It wasn't that long ago (April 2 of last year, to be exact) that New York City's influential dance/rock/general fun band, LCD Soundsystem, had its last hurrah. Armed with their catalog, a gigantic disco ball, white balloons, their friends (Arcade Fire and Reggie Watts), and many, many, fans, the band -- which was only meant to play a handful of shows and make one album -- effectively ended their time together as a live, cohesive unit with a grand final performance at Madison Square Garden.

But like all things that go too soon, we'll always have good things to remember them by. Which is why the show, its lead-up (which also included several performance dates at the nearby Terminal 5), backstage moments and an interview with the band's frontman, James Murphy, has become a film, "Shut Up and Play the Hits," screening Wednesday night (July 18) only at theaters nationwide.

Fans may see one familiar face on the big screen. Comedian/ actor (and connoisseur of music video cameos) Aziz Ansari was there for LCD Soundsystem's last show ... when the crowd took it upon themselves to revel in him.

"I was like down near the gate and these people like hoisted me up and kind of forced me to crowdsurf -- which was really fun, but unexpected," he shared with us when we talked to him at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts festival as a stop on his "Buried Alive!" tour. Though he hadn't seen the film at the time, he assured that the moment made the final cut. "Someone said that it is in there."

Though "that crowdsurfing thing" remains his favorite memory of the emotional night, the night was so much more than that. "That was one of the best concerts I've ever seen," he said. "It was tremendous. It was so good. I definitely think the movie will be awesome."
