Clinton Sparks Remixes Lady Gaga's 'Bloody Mary'

Lady Gaga's Born This Way remix album brought new life to the singer's already acclaimed hits. But much like Gaga's progression of baffling persona, many of her songs also continue to evolve. Take, for example, the spicy revamp of "Bloody Mary" by producer Clinton Sparks.

While the official remix album included a more reserved version by British group The Horrors, Sparks created a dance club anthem full of raw, industrial thumping bass, groaning synths (which feel very Röyksopp, if you ask me), and a twirling tempo, right in line with the feeling of utter ecstasy that the majority of Gaga's dance hits tend to provoke. The tone is haunting and eerie, which only helps elevate the song's lovelorn, vaguely metaphysical lyrics: "Love is just a history that they may prove/ And when you're gone I'll tell them my religion's you."

Clinton Sparks also coproduced the original album version of "Bloody Mary" and with a recent Grammy nomination for the album, his energetic retool could be a celebratory nod toward the award. No matter the outcome of the nomination, Sparks' remix wins.
