Being confident not only probably makes you walk down the street like you own the block (or red carpet like our favorite celebs), but people who are true to themselves are also more likely to be in a positive, healthy relationship.

Enjoy sex—with yourself. Self-pleasure is a very important part of your life. According to some recent statistics, the sex toy industry rakes in over $15 billion in sales annually, with the top sellers being a vibrator, followed by a rubber penis (dildo), and lubrication. That same research said that 12 percent of women masturbate with a sex toy at least once a week, and why not? Masturbation not only feels good, it’s good for you. It helps relieve stress and makes you feel relaxed. (So you may be less likely to send bae an angry text when they’ve been ignoring you.) And dudes, all of those one-handed dates with yourself can be doing your boys some good. Science says that high ejaculation frequency is correlated with a decreased risk of prostate cancer.
Being authentic is sexy AF. One study proved that being confident would get you more dates than being attractive will. Think about it. That guy or girl who’s laughing with friends, looks like they’re having a blast and holding eye contact with you is probably more noticeable and memorable that the silent brooding supermodel in the corner who’s staring into his or her phone all night.
Do you. Be honest about who you are and what you represent. Whether that’s with your signature style, hair, scent, dance moves, or singing voice, own it and let the crowd you’re with (and the ones watching) see just how much fun you have. (You know all the musicians and performers at the VMAs will be doing just that!) We’re betting any stranger who’s watching you own your personality will want to be hanging with you in no time.
Be prepared for anything. Always have a condom on hand that represents what you like and who you are. This shows your partner that you’re mature, responsible, and you take your (and their) sexual health seriously.
