Multiplatinum R&B singer Mariah Carey will launch a world tour, her first in seven years, Feb. 14 at the Sportaleis in Antwerp, Belgium.

The 18-date tour will travel across Europe and the Far East for a month before arriving at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on March 16, according to the singer's publicist at PMK Public Relations.

The nine U.S. dates on the "Mariah's Rainbow Tour — One Night Only!" will end April 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Carey's last series of dates was 1993's outing coinciding with the release of her Music Box album. She will be hitting the road behind her most recent multiplatinum album, Rainbow. The singer's ninth studio effort features the hit "Heartbreaker" (RealAudio excerpt) and Carey's R&B-flavored take on the Phil Collins song "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" (RealAudio excerpt).

The album also has a number of cameos from rappers including Da Brat and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, and Carey told MTV News that she may be joined by her hip-hop friends on the road.

"When I'm in the States, I'm going to see who's around whatever city we're in," Carey said. "Hopefully, in Atlanta or Chicago, maybe we'll have Da Brat. I haven't asked her yet. I have to give her a call and see what's up with her. I was paging [producer] Jermaine [Dupri] last night. He said he'll be there."

Carey received an Award of Achievement honor from the American Music Awards on Monday night (Jan. 17) for her "rare and distinguished accomplishments"; pop superstars Michael Jackson and Prince are the only previous winners.

Singer Olivia Newton-John, who presented the award, said the R&B singer had a #1 record every year in the 1990s, spent more weeks on the pop singles chart than any other artist (surpassing the Beatles), had more #1 singles than any other female artist and has sold 128 million records worldwide.

Carey, who also performed, dedicated the award to two young girls who had accompanied her to the ceremony. The girls were from the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a charity that helps children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses. "Their achievements are a lot more special than mine," she said.
