The cast of the Fast & Furious franchise aren’t friends; they’re family — or at least that’s the PR-approved message Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is trying to convey in his latest Instagram post.

Earlier this week, The Rock called out one of his male Fast 8 costars for being an unprofessional “candy ass” on set. It didn’t take long for TMZ to dig up the dirt and report that Johnson and franchise star Vin Diesel had been at odds throughout the arduous production. The two reportedly had a meeting on Tuesday — “partly because tensions were running so high it was almost impossible to shoot scenes” — to try and resolve their issues, but according to TMZ, the effort was unsuccessful.

But a new day brings a new perspective. On Wednesday, The Rock took to Instagram to celebrate his final week on the set of Fast 8. He also took the time to stress how the Fast & Furious team are like family.

“You guys reading this know how much I believe in the idea of TEAM EFFORT,” he wrote. “That means respecting every person, their time and their value when they step on to my set or partner with our production company. And like with any team — that’s a family — there’s gonna be conflict. Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs.”

“To me, conflict can be a good thing, when its followed by great resolution,” he added. “I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it. At the end of the day me and #F8 co-stars all agree on the most important thing: Delivering an incredible movie to the world.” (Johnson ended the post with #FamilyGrowth.)

However, things may not be as resolved as they seem. TMZ reported that Diesel left the set on Wednesday immediately after wrapping — and that at the time, their issues were still unsettled. Now, a new report has shed some light on the cause of their rift: Diesel’s work ethic.

According to TMZ, Diesel, a producer on the film, often held up production because he wouldn’t come out of his trailer on time. The site also claimed that production was forced to shift their start time three hours later because Diesel “didn’t like Monday 7 a.m. calls.” This seems to corroborate a THR report from last year that called Diesel “extraordinarily difficult” to work with.

Diesel has yet to respond to Johnson’s dig, but in an Instagram video posted Wednesday night, the actor teased, “So give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything.”
