Fifth Harmony’s Meghan Trainor Cover Was Brave, Honest, 'And' Beautiful

The group generously filled in for Trainor at Billboard’s Women in Music ceremony

Missing a scheduled Meghan Trainor performance is a bummer and all, but seeing Fifth Harmony instead? That’s a pretty damn fine consolation prize.

Earlier this week, Trainor announced that she would be forced to cancel the rest of her 2016 tour dates after her doctor placed her on “strict vocal rest.” One of those scheduled shows was at Billboard’s Women in Music Awards, which took place tonight (December 9) in New York City. In her absence, however, Fifth Harmony — who previously collaborated with Trainor on their Reflection cut “Brave, Honest, Beautiful” — stepped up to the plate.

Accompanied by just an acoustic guitarist, the group flawlessly covered Trainor’s romantic ballad “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” Each girl tackled a different solo before coming together for a heavenly a cappella ending. We hope Trainor gets better soon, but we wouldn’t be opposed to Fifth Harmony claiming this song in the meantime.
