Did Brody Jenner And Lauren Conrad Date...Or Not?

As the two play a game of 'he said, she said,' we're looking back at their most memorable 'Hills' moments.

Former flames Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner may have officially moved on -- she's engaged to William Tell and he's getting serious with model Kaitlynn Carter -- but the "Hills" alums' short-lived romance is still a hot topic of conversation.

Case in point: The Cali stud's list of exes -- Kristin Cavallari, Nicole Richie, Avril Lavigne and Lauren -- were mentioned on his July 3 podcast with Dr. Mike Dow. But Brody quickly interjected when Lauren's name came up -- and squashed all fans' notions about their love story.

"That's false. Lauren Conrad and I never dated," the notorious ladies' man said. "Lauren and I have always been just friends. We worked together on a show called 'The Hills' where we had to pretend like we were dating, but we never dated."

But! But!

Meanwhile, fashion designer Lauren said in a 2012 interview with Allure magazine that the duo did date.

So what's the truth? Let's sit down and ponder it -- but before we do, here's a refresher course on the pair's most memorable "Hills" moments:

Their first date.

How did the flirtatious dinner outing come to be? Lauren's roomie Heidi Montag was getting close to Spencer Pratt. Brody was Spencer's longtime friend -- and the rest is history.

The magical kiss.

This sweet smooch played out just moments after Brody declared there was "nowhere else he'd rather be." And we ate up every second of it.

The former friend who got in the way.

Jen Bunney, Lauren's old pal from Laguna, sure had an unforgettable 21st birthday party: after LC gave a heartfelt toast about how much their friendship meant to her, Jen hooked up (off-camera) with Brody. She didn't shed any mascara tears, but Lauren wasn't too pleased -- and neither were we -- as evidenced by her reaction in the clip above.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Sin City + Brody's 24th b-day celebration = another lip lock.

The alternate ending.

The show came full circle when Lauren made a triumphant return, paying Brody a visit after he bid farewell to an overseas-bound K-Cav. Well, almost: that ending was never shown -- until some three years after "The Hills'" final episode. But they sure looked happy, didn't they?
