Billy Idol has cut a new track, "Bitter Pill," which will be featured on a new Greatest Hits compilation from the British rocker, due March 27.

The song marks the first new material to surface from the platinum spike-haired singer in more than six years, as Idol has maintained a low musical profile since recording the title song for the "Speed" soundtrack in 1994.

More recently, he made a cameo appearance in the 1998 Adam Sandler flick "The Wedding Singer" and lent his voice to the character Odin in the animated film "Heavy Metal 2000" — last year's sequel to the 1981 cult classic "Heavy Metal."

In addition to "Bitter Pill," the new Billy Idol Greatest Hits album features 15 other well-known tracks from the singer's '80s and '90s catalog, including "Dancing With Myself", "White Wedding (Part 1)", "Eyes Without a Face," "Flesh for Fantasy," "To Be a Lover" and "Cradle of Love."

Idol's covers of the Doors' "L.A. Woman" and his live rendition of Tommy James' "Mony Mony" — which struck #1 in 1987 — are also featured on the Greatest Hits set, which is rounded out by a concert version of "Rebel Yell" that was recorded at KROQ's Acoustic Christmas show December 11, 1993.

The new Billy Idol Greatest Hits album updates an earlier compilation, Idol Songs: The Best of Billy Idol, originally issued in 1988.
