Angelina Jolie Has The Chicken Pox -- And She's Not Happy About It

'You have to laugh at the timing,' Jolie says of missing her 'Unbroken' premiere.

Angelina Jolie is feeling some serious betrayal by her immune system. The 39-year-old actress won't be attending premiere events this week for her sophomore directorial effort, "Unbroken," thanks to a most-unlikely case of the chicken pox.

Universal Studios posted a 39-second video of Jolie speaking in a frank state of disbelief about the ordeal.

"I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the 'Unbroken' events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox," Jolie says. "I will be home, itching and missing everyone, and I can't believe it because this film means so much to me."

"You have to laugh at the timing," the director commented in a studio Facebook post. "I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting 'Unbroken.' I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie's family, Phil's daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming."

Husband Brad Pitt and the couple's children will attend the premiere of the World War II drama in her absence. "Unbroken" tells tale of Olympic athlete and war veteran Louis Zamperini, who, after surviving on a raft at sea for weeks after a plane crash, is captured by the Japanese and sentenced to a POW camp.

Angie will just have to try again for the premiere of her third directing effort. The veteran actress has been tapped to helm a new film titled "Africa," which is based on the true story of paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey's battle to save the African elephant population in Kenya against the ivory poachers.

"Unbroken" hits theaters December 25.
