A lot of stories are billed as an "amazing true story," but Angelina Jolie's sophomore directorial effort "Unbroken" definitely lives up to the hype.
The story is about Louis Zamperini (Jack O'Connell), an Olympic runner-turned-soldier who is captured by Japanese forces during World War II and sent to a POW camp.
The movie also stars upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII" actor Domnhall Gleeson and Garret Hedlund, and has some impressive names behind it: the script was co-written by Joel and Ethan Coen.
Even though this is only Jolie's second movie behind the lens (not counting the 2007 documentary "A Place in Time"), it's clear the star is going for the big time, with the epic scope of the story allowing her to pull out a ton of visual tricks and grandiose moments.
"Unbroken" opens later this year on Christmas Day.
