Noah Cyrus Reveals Big Sister Miley's Go-To Words Of Wisdom

Growing 'thick skin' isn't easy

Now that 16-year-old Noah Cyrus's music career is officially a thing — she dropped debut single "Make Me (Cry)," featuring R&B singer-songwriter Labrinth in November — her sister Miley has some advice to share with her. "Miley always says, 'Don't ever look yourself up or read your comments, 'cause you're gonna see stuff that you don't want to see,'" Noah revealed to Rolling Stone in a new interview. "That's the best advice ever. If it's making me happy, then it's working."

Noah and Miley have already released an emotional music video and performed a special acoustic version of the song together — all two years after Noah decided to pursue singing. And Miley's been there all along, she said, to help Noah develop a "thick skin" upon entering the industry as an artist herself.

Noah named Lady Gaga's Joanne and Ben Howard's I Forget When We Were as her most significant influences, also name-dropping Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.

Perhaps Noah should take her own words here to heart. If someone's making her unhappy — as they are in "Make Me (Cry)," obviously — then it's time to say goodbye.
