Moana Is Not ‘Some Little Girl’ In New Disney Trailer

She’s just a girl, standing in front of a demigod, asking him to help her kick some monster butt

The official full-length trailer for Disney's Moana is here, and perhaps unsurprisingly, even the villains are cute in this movie. That is, until they pull out their pointy weapons and poisonous blow darts. (As if that's going to stop Moana from fulfilling her destiny.)

As we can see in the trailer below, Moana (voiced by teen newcomer Auli'i Cravalho) is on a mission to save her people from a "great danger" that threatens to wipe out their entire island existence. (Is that the fearsome Lava Monster?) With help from a smack-talking demigod named Maui (voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), her pet pig, Pua, a dumb chicken, and her friend The Ocean, Moana embarks on a journey to the realm of monsters to save her community.

But first, she's got to deal with the Kakamora, who are a lot tougher than they look.

Featuring music from Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and Opetaia Foa'i, Moana promises to be a Disney epic like no other — which seems appropriate, seeing how Moana is unlike any other Disney princess. She's a warrior. A hero. She's the princess we need in 2016. And she gets to boss around The Rock, which is pretty damn cool.

Moana hits theaters this Thanksgiving, on November 23, 2016.
