Is Kanye West Having The Most Productive (And Provocative) Fashion Week Ever?

Between the runway, the arena, and damage control, he’s damn busy

We’re only three days into New York Fashion Week, and Kanye West has somehow managed to have one of the most packed (and provocative) schedules of those hopping between shows thanks to him working nonstop as a performer and designer.

After playing two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, throwing a night of G.O.O.D. Music, and presenting Yeezy Season 4, you’d think he’d slow down.

You’d be wrong.

On September 9, West took care of business with a little damage control and danced the night away with his famous family. First, he addressed the controversy surrounding his Yeezy fashion show on Roosevelt Island — you know, the one where models were fainting after baking in the sun for hours — by saying that he wanted to “make people feel great” and stressed that “each and every one’s time, insight and feelings are invaluable” to the creation of that “transformative experience.” It’s no apology, but these tweets offer a small glimmer of hope that a chorus of concerns didn’t fall on deaf ears at Team Yeezy HQ.

Then, he proceeded to hit Harper’s Bazaar's Carine Roitfeld–hosted Icons party, a shindig Vanity Fair touted as “Fashion Week Prom,” where he dominated the dance floor while providing its soundtrack.

Unlike his sky-high Saint Pablo tour performance, West opted to get in the thick of the crowd to run through a bunch of his songs, and Kim and Kylie both broadcast his rhyming from his side on the dance floor.

He even danced with the high-fashion hostess at one point, holding Roitfeld’s hand and swaying her through a track.

NYFW wraps on September 14, so there are still plenty of opportunities presented by various venues and runways for West to keep creating — and keep creating controversy.
