'Gilmore Girls' Revival's Sentimental Title Would Definitely Make Kirk Cry

The girls are back in town

Oy with the teases already! Lauren Graham made a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in a clip released on Thursday (May 19), and she revealed the sentimental title of Netflix's highly anticipated Gilmore Girls revival and confirmed some new details. But first, you might want to put on some Carole King for this one.

"I can tell you the title for the first time," Graham said. "It's four 90-minute episodes, and they're winter, spring, summer, and fall, so the show is called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

When it comes to Gilmore Girls, there are three universal truths: Emily Gilmore had the sickest burns this side of Hicksville, Stars Hollow and seasonal gatherings go together like the Gilmores and Chinese food, and if you’re going to throw your life away -- he’d better have a motorcycle. Oh, and coffee is life. Somehow, this new poster manages to capture that essence perfectly.

Sob.

Graham, who played the indomitable Lorelai Gilmore on the show's original seven-season run until its series finale in May 2007, told Ellen that she feels lucky to portray the fast-talking Dragon Fly Inn owner again after nearly a decade.

"It's been the most incredible experience -- I cry trying to talk about it," she said. "To get to do it again, who would have imagined? Netflix had to be invented, you guys had to want it back." (We don't even want to think about what life would be like without Netflix.)

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will premiere later this year, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
