'Silver Linings' Reunion #2! Jennifer Lawrence & David O. Russell Head to 'The Ends of the Earth'

UPDATE: There's major movement on this project that was first announced last summer, as David O. Russell has signed on to direct the romantic historical drama, according to Deadline.

"The Ends of the Earth makes for the second collaboration between Russell and his Oscar-bound "Silver Linings Playbook" star Jennifer Lawrence to be announced in the past week, as the "Hunger Games" actress recently signed on for Russell's untitled Abscam film (formerly titled "American Bulls**t").

The film tells the true-life tale of Ernest Marland, the oil tycoon who loses everything when he's caught having an affair with his adopted daughter. Producer Harvey Weinstein expects "The Ends of the Earth" to rival "Django Unchained" in terms of its epic size and scope.

Jennifer Lawrence has been to Panem. Now she's traveling further to "The Ends of the Earth."

The "Hunger Games" star taking a break from archery as she joins the cast of the real-world period drama, according to Deadline.

"The Ends of the Earth" is a fact-based tale of a forbidden romance that follows Ernest Marland, a powerful oil tycoon who's on top of the world until he's caught having an affair with Lydie (Lawrence), a beautiful young woman who also happens to be his adopted daughter.

Sounds deliciously scandalous; just the right amount of "gross" and "hot," no?

Jennifer Lawrence is so far successfully balancing her career with mainstream sci-fi franchise films ("The Hunger Games," "X-Men: First Class") and more "grown-up" kind of melodramas ("Winter's Bone," the upcoming "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Serena"). She'll next be seen staking her claim as a white T-shirt-wearing scream queen in "House at the End of the Street," opening Sept. 21, with "Silver Linings" set to open on Nov. 21.

"The Ends of the Earth" is being set up at The Weinstein Co. with Chris Terrio ("Argo") writing the screenplay. No director has been announced yet, and the hunt is now on for Jennifer's adopted father/older man.
