Even Leonardo DiCaprio Hated His Crazy 'Revenant' Beard

Good news: Leo won't be joining the men's beard club.

It's no secret that when it comes to Leonardo DiCaprio, our hearts will go on and on no matter what -- but we'll also never let go of Jack Dawson and the smooth-shaven wonder that was late-'90s heartthrob Leo. So while we were totally in awe of his "Revenant" beard, we were not into that look on him and are sooo happy to hear that it's a goner for good now. Phew.

Leonardo Dicaprio happy

DiCaprio appeared on "Ellen" to talk about his wilderness-battling, raw bison-eating romp for Alejandro González Iñárritu's pic and how it paled in comparison to the many terrifying times he almost died IRL -- and that's when he delivered the good news that we won't be seeing him with a titanic scruff anymore. Possibly ever.

"I don’t think I’ll have a beard like that ever again, unless it’s for a role," he said of his scraggly face mane which took six months to accomplish. "It’s hard to maintain. Stuff gets in there. You’re eating and then food falls in."

Luckily for Leo, his ever-faithful entourage was always around to give him the "there's a booger on your face" -- or in this case, "yo crap in your beard bro" -- heads-up to avoid any embarrassment. But there were other woes to being so facially hirsute for all that time as well. Like the fact that you have to shampoo and condition it or else.

"You have to shampoo it," Leo explained. "I did put conditioner in it. You do want it to be soft, otherwise it gets like a brillo pad." Well now you know.
