If there's one thing Lupita Nyong'o loves about being a part of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" -- apart from the megawatt fashion opportunities, obvi -- it's definitely her Stormtrooper toy.

Lovingly dubbed "Thunder," this old school piece of nerdery is her constant companion, especially now that she's travelling to a galaxy far, far away around the promo circuit for "Episode VII."

The Oscar-winner's Stormtropper squadmember is basically her BFF-slash-entire-'Gram-game right now, and since she's keeping him so very near to her heart, we thought we'd present a pictorial history of their relash.

Spoiler? It's getting serious.

At first, she was all about "geeking out" with her Han Solo Stormtrooper.

(The green tooth thing is a mystery to us too.)

But then she made acquaintance with this little guy, and it was all over.

It was love at first sight.

After that, she started taking her toy to work -- even on other non-"Star Wars"-related projects.

He makes everything better.

Eventually, she started to see the little guy's artistic potential.

He's a born model.

He became a true centerpiece of her (Instagram) life.

She taught Not Thunder how to pose like "his own kind."

And she brought him along for moral support during her interviews.

Thunder even went to battle with Kylo Ren under her watch.

Of course, she made sure to give some of the other characters a fair shake.

She even went so far as to call R2D2 her "favorite droid."

But at the end of the day, it's always been about Thunder the Stormtrooper.

Once people started catching onto her not-so-secret obsession, things got even sweeter. Literally.

That's when the action shots began.

And Thunder became true center of attention at all times.

Even when BB-8 is in the picture.

Even dogs love the thing.

And even if he wasn't around, he was clearly still on her mind, as evidenced by this adorable impersonation she did of her bestest buddy.

Thunder is literally as close to her heart as it gets, guys. D'awww.

And now he's making friends.

Thunder's friend is named Lightning.
