Kendrick Lamar And Pharrell Sang 'Alright' Together And All Was, Indeed, Right In The World

The pair teamed up at Power 106's Cali Christmas show in LA.

It's been clear since March, when the masterful To Pimp A Butterfly album dropped, but it's always worth repeating: Kendrick Lamar had a better 2015 than just about everybody.

From his recent wedding crashing and J. Cole remix-trading (where's that mixtape?!), Kendrick has been making sure to round out the year on a high note. And Friday night at LA radio station Power 106's annual Cali Christmas concert, K. Dot surprised everyone by crashing Pharrell's set for a bangin' performance of "Alright."

Pharrell produced the track alongside Sounwave (who also produced Kendrick's "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe") and sings the hook on the recorded version. For this live rendition -- the first time they've teamed up for it live, Pitchfork points out -- Pharrell hangs back and lets Kendrick do what he does, occasionally throwing in some "hah"s and hand gestures for emphasis.

"One of my assistants really likes trap music," Pharrell said about his production of the song at this year's Mawazine Festival. "I wanted to do something that felt like it was in that vein but just a little bit more colorful and add rhodes and instruments that are not usually used in that style of music, and just try to bring something a little bit more mystical. I kind of had my Tribe Called Quest hat on that day. I’m a huge Q-Tip fan."

Indeed, we gon' be alright. We all gon' be alright.
