Sabbath Drummer's Heart Attack Confirmed
Though the reason for Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward's
hospitalization previously had
been unspecified, the band's PR firm, KSA,
confirmed today that
Ward suffered a heart attack on May 19. "He suffered a
minor heart attack, and he's resting nicely and coming along very well," said
spokeswoman Doreen D'Agostino, adding that Ward is still being treated at a
London hospital. Ward's
condition has caused him to miss dates on the band's
first European tour in 20 years. Joining Ozzy Osbourne, Tony
Iommi and Geezer Butler in Ward's place is Vinnie
Appice, who previously toured and recorded with the band. D'Agostino
said Ward likely will join the tour in the fall.
