‘The Little Mermaid’: Who Should Join Chloë Moretz Under The Sea?

They've got their dinglehoppers at the ready.

This weekend, we welcomed a new leading lady to an iconic fairy tale -- Chloë Moretz, who will officially be starring as the titular hero of the live action version of "The Little Mermaid." Wow, is that perfect casting. Can't you just picture her staring wide-eyed in wonder at forks and thing-a-ma-bobs?

Of course, unlike the upcoming "Beauty and the Beast" live-action film starring Emma Watson, this version of the story will be based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and not the Disney adaptation we all grew up with. But that doesn't mean we've don't have plenty of opinions about who would be able to bring our favorite fish to life, if they were actually given the chance. I mean, come on, Ursula is iconic!

If Disney ever decides to step up to the plate and put together their own version of "The Little Mermaid," then they should definitely give these actors a call (and let's be real, Universal should probably be doing that anyway, even if they can't use the same versions of each character!).

Prince Eric: Liam Hemsworth

Disney/Lionsgate

It's about time Liam actually got the girl, don't you think? Plus, he's got Eric's trademark blue eyes -- and at 25 he's close enough to the 18-year-old Moretz that it wouldn't be too weird for them to be together.

Sebastian: Titus Burgess

Burgess has already played the exasperated crab in the Broadway adaptation of "The Little Mermaid," so he's definitely got the chops. Get it? Because he's a crab with claws that can chop stuff? I'll let myself out.

Flounder: Zach Callison

As the voice of Steven on "Steven Universe," Zach could definitely bring the same level of joy, naïveté and occasional anxiety to the dorky fish sidekick.

Ursula: Taraji P. Henson

Tell me you wouldn't want to see Cookie Lyon rock the heck out of "Poor Unfortunate Souls."

Vanessa: KeKe Palmer

vanessa

Obviously Taraji is a flawless goddess, but if they wanted to find someone who's a bit closer in age to Chloë and Liam, Keke could definitely step up and deliver.

King Triton: Jeff Bridges

Disney/The Weinstein Company

tritong

Bridges is a pretty chill dude, so it would be interesting to see him as Ariel's controlling father -- he'd probably be able to bring a lot of pathos and sympathy to the character.

Ariel's Sisters: Little Mix

mermaids

Sure, in the original Ariel has six sisters, but could any of them sing as well as the fierce ladies in this girl group? Probably not.

Scuttle: Bobby Moynihan

Disney/NBC

suttle

Scuttle is basically the OG Drunk Uncle, right?

Grimsby: Ian McKellan

Look at Grimsby and look at Ian McKellen and tell me this isn't his ultimate fate.

Chef Louis: Sacha Baron Cohen

Honestly, who ELSE could play the chef who almost cooks Sebastian alive? An actual Frenchman?
