Kristin Cavallari was always known for keeping the lines of communication open when she was a "Laguna Beach" teen and as a young adult living in "The Hills" -- and she's using that same approach as a married, soon-to-be mother of three.

The erstwhile MTV cast member -- who is due any day now with her very own mini-me -- is opening up about her familial life in American Baby and reveals how she stays connected with her husband Jay Cutler.

"I'm not ashamed to say that Jay and I consistently go to therapy, because it’s been extremely beneficial for our relationship," the shoe designer candidly tells the magazine. "For example, when you’re fighting you should never place blame on your partner by saying, ‘You do this’ or ‘You do that.’ You should say how those actions make you feel. It goes a long way.” After all, K-Cav was never shy about voicing how she really felt -- just ask Lauren Conrad...

In addition, the SoCal native -- who said "I do" to the quarterback back in June 2013 -- gushed about her excitement to add a little lady to their family fold.

“She’s going to steal Jay’s heart, which will in turn melt mine!” Kristin tells the publication. “I’m excited for the boys to grow up with a sister. I think it will help them to better understand and respect women.”
