James McAvoy Reveals Whether He'll Be Back For More 'X-Men'

And he said...

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

The apocalypse is looming ever closer...the "X-Men: Apocalypse," that is. And while we're so excited to see the next installment of the mutant franchise, now filming, we're a little sad too: Jennifer Lawrence has already announced that "Apocalypse" will be her last "X-Men" movie, and Michael Fassbender gave us a great big "I'm not sure" about his future with the franchise.

Will James McAvoy be returning for more mutant mutiny? He and his shaved head (gotta get that Professor X cue-ball vibe just right) sat down with MTV News to discuss his new movie "Frankenstein" at San Diego Comic-Con, where we asked him directly.

"If they want me back! That's the end of my contract," he said. "But if they make some money on this one, they'll make more, I'm sure. And if they want me back I think I'd definitely sign. Simon's been making some great stuff for Charles, and if that keeps happening, I'd jump to it."

As for how the professor is doing in "Apocalypse," McAvoy said he's "in a great place, actually."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" hits theaters May 27, 2016.
