Top 5 Suspects: One Of These People Could Be The 'Scream' Killer

Blood is already spilling on MTV's new slasher series, but who's behind the murders?

The bloodbath has officially begun.

During the series premiere of "Scream" -- MTV's reboot of the classic slasher-film franchise -- a masked killer slaughtered two high school students in reliably gruesome fashion: Both Nina Patterson and her boyfriend Tyler were chopped meat within the show's first eight minutes.

But who's behind the scary mask? And who has reason to begin such a murderous spree? Frankly, we're already giving side-eye to a few people and, yes, we're naming names. Here are our top five suspects:

Will

The H.S. basketball star has already proven he's a d-bag distrustful: First, he got caught lying to Emma about where he'd been Monday night. (That old "my phone died" excuse? Really?) Then his affair with the dearly departed Nina was revealed, much to Emma's anger. Even worse, he apparently has more to hide: Storming into shop class, he asked Jake if he'd cleaned up his computer and gotten rid of "those files." "If you want to wear an orange jumpsuit for the rest of your life, fine -- just don't take me down with you," he said. Jake's reply: "I don't want that, but your fingerprints are all over this too." Ruh-roh.

Jake

Exhibit A: He didn't exactly mourn Nina's death; instead, during a chat with his posse, Jake listed her, umm, extra-curricular activities with the basketball team, the football team, oh, and the lacrosse team. Exhibit B: As discussed above, he and Will are up to no good. By the way, he heeded his buddy's warning: By episode's end, Jake was deleting those files from his computer as fast as J-Law should have wiped out those damn photos.

Kieran

Sure, the new-in-town hunk is certifiably hot, but his detached, brooding personality makes him kind of creepy. In fact, when Emma accused the mysterious young man of having a "dark mind," he eerily replied, "You have no idea." Could he be the Lakewood slasher? Hey, he already has the perfect smokescreen: Turns out, Kieran is Sheriff Hudson's son. And when a serial killer strikes, who'd ever suspect the POPO's kid?

Rachel

Audrey's not-so-secret love (damn that videotape) clearly has self-esteem issues. "She's wicked-smart and funny," Audrey told Emma, "but she hates the way she looks." And later, when the outed couple discussed the pain caused by their leaked makeout clip -- and the peers who'd wronged them -- Rachel proclaimed, "I feel ugly." So what's our point? As Noah explained, Brandon James -- the original Lakewood killer from 20 years before -- also disliked his appearance. Afflicted with Proteus syndrome ("like the Elephant Man," Noah said), Brandon rarely left home -- but ventured out to slaughter a slew of students. Students who had wronged him. Hmm...

Noah

The geeky genius admitted he has a "serial killer fetish;" in fact, he proudly announced that he's obsessed with Brandon James. "Some guys like sports -- I like serial killers," Noah said. "And Brandon James is my Dallas Cowboys." Sure, that might seem like an innocent (if not weird) hobby -- unless you've ever heard of the term "copycat killer." (*Insert sound effect here.*) Perhaps most chillingly, in the episode's final scene, Noah explained exactly how he thought the killing spree would end. "Everyone has secrets. Everyone tells lies," he said ominously. "And everyone is fair game...until there's no one left." Then he brushed his bangs aside to reveal a bloody wound across his forehead. And how the hell did THAT happen?
