John Green Hijacked MTV's Periscope And Revealed These 13 Awesome Facts

Yes, he and Shailene Woodley are still BFFs.

John Green, YA author and Grand High Emperor of the Internet Kingdom of Nerdfighteria, took over MTV's Periscope yesterday for twenty glorious minutes of real-time, livestreaming Q&A about the "Paper Towns" movie -- which is one of the hotly-anticipated movies to be featured at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday April 12.

Over the course of his livestream, John showed us around his office, revealed some fun facts about "Paper Towns," and generally amped up the excitement for the debut of an exclusive clip from the film during Sunday's ceremony. But if you missed it when it was happening, here are the 13 most important takeaways from the Periscope chat.

1. If you want to see John on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet, you'll have to tune in early.

Per John, he is not famous enough to walk the arrivals carpet in the hot time slot just before the show. (Aww, John. You'll always be mega-famous to us!)

2. The sassiest member of the "Paper Towns" cast is...

Justice Smith! The actor who plays Radar popped up on Twitter to fish for compliments in real time.

@MTV @PaperTownsMovie @johngreen how was radar? heard he was a cool guy. He's my favorite. #JohnGreenMTV

3. Yes, there will be many, many black Santas in this movie.

Fans of "Paper Towns", the Novel, will be glad to hear that the world-record-holding collection of black Santas from the book has indeed found its way onscreen.

4. True story: There was a time in John Green's life when he totally forgot to be awesome.

In a moment of brutal honesty, the author described his high school attitude toward girls as "really unhealthy, misogynistic and gross."

5. John's favorite scene from "Paper Towns"? Two words: ROAD TRIP.

"All the stuff that takes place in the minivan is pretty magical to me," the author said. (Confused? Don't worry. All will be clear when you see the movie.)

6. John Green will not comment on the interpersonal/romantic dynamics within One Direction.

So don't ask.

7. He's still super-tight with Shailene Woodley after she starred in "The Fault in Our Stars."

"For me, Shai is just a forever person," Green says.

8. And Nat Wolff is pretty much John Green's favorite dude in the world, ever.

"How wonderful was it to spend time with Nat Wolff? SO WONDERFUL! It's impossible to express my love for Nat Wolff," he said.

9. Also, the role of Q in "Paper Towns" was always meant for Nat.

Asked about the casting of the movie's lead role, John replied, "There was never a world in which we were gonna make a paper towns movie that nat wasn't going to be in."

10. By the way: Watch Nat Wolff closely at the MTV Movie Awards.

"He's the funniest guy in the world on the red carpet," John says of the "Paper Towns" star. (Unanswered question: Who would win in a red carpet shenanigans competition, Nat Wolff or Jennifer Lawrence?)

11. John's biggest worry about the "Paper Towns" movie might surprise you.

After confessing that there are no ducks in "Paper Towns" -- let alone cool ducks, which is what the question asked about -- John Green spent a solid sixty seconds fretting about the total failure of this film to appeal to the cool duck fandom. Alas, it is too late now.

12. Nobody should be worried about Cara Delevingne as Margo Roth Spiegelman.

Although John would like to remind everyone, once again, that he is not responsible for casting the movie adaptations of his books, he also had some choice words explaining why Cara was the perfect pick to star in this film:

"Imagine being a person for whom the vast majority of people who quote-unquote know you, you exist on billboards," he said. "And based on this two-dimensional image, people make these broad assumptions." In short: We all know what it's like to be mis-imagined, says John, but Cara -- with her background as a model -- understands being seen as a two-dimensional caricature of herself better than anyone, ever.

13. And finally, you should be getting pretty stoked for the MTV Movie Awards, because John Green sure is.

"Middle aged dudes don't get to dress up with their awesome spouses and go to these parties very often, so I'm super psyched," John said of his upcoming appearance at the Movie Awards. And if you're looking for another reason to watch, don't forget: He and the cast will be on hand to debut an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from the movie Sunday night.

Are you excited? WE'RE EXCITED.
