I'm a grown woman just out of college, and I know there are people I know I won’t see again until some sort of class reunion. So now that I’m in the position where I'm able to choose who I surround myself with, I only want to pick winners. But how can I be an accurate judge of character for every person that I meet?

One question: Backstreet Boys or NSYNC?

Seriously. That’s it. That’s the only thing you need to know. Learning that someone could have potentially called Howie their favorite member of a boy band is the most telling thing you could know about them.

I get it. You want to say my opinion is invalid because I am obviously (and correctly) team 'NSYNC. But it’s not invalid. Here’s why:

'NSYNC fans are elitists.

As we should be. We had great taste and saw Justin’s potential for stardom as soon as we saw that Ramen Noodle hair of his. We literally predicted the future.

NSYNC has status.

Britney and Justin were arguably the most important power couple of our time. Nick Carter and Paris Hilton are mere peasants in comparison.

BSB fans spend too much time defending their choice.

"I Want It That Way" is certainly one of the best pop songs of all time. But is anyone going to forget about the "Bye Bye Bye" music video? That puppet scene is iconic.

Yeah, Chris Kirkpatrick is unforgivable...

but that episode of Fairly Oddparents with Chip Skylark singing about his teeth is pretty legendary. What does Howie even bring to the table?

Everyone remembers the NSYNC Simpsons episode.

BSB was on an episode of Arthur. The cartoon about an aardvark.

‘Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays’

Everyone loves that song. Definitely considered a Christmas classic. I had to google if BSB had a christmas song.

With that in mind, it’s clear that should someone say that they were team Backstreet, they may have made some bad decisions in their lives. They were confused. Everyone makes mistakes, that’s how we learn! You were only 13! We can still maybe sing "I Want It That Way” at a dive karaoke bar at 2 a.m.

But, should you discover that they also had a Justin Timberlake poster above their bed, you can be confident that they are trustworthy, loyal, a good judge of character, and a potential BFF. It really is that simple!
