Rejoice! 'Magic Mike XXL' Has Started Filming

It's on, indeed.

The only movie that can trump our anticipation level for "Fifty Shades of Grey" is the sequel to 2012's "Magic Mike." The cheekily (get it? Ha!) titled "Magic Mike XXL" is being co-written by star Channing Tatum and directed by Gregory Jacobs, but original "Magic Mike" director Steven Soderbergh is clearly still heavily involved.

Soderbergh tweeted an image of a production slate yesterday, exclaiming, "It's ON!"

We'll just presume that – by "it" – Soderbergh means Tatum gyrating to a remix of Ginuwine's "Pony" for 90 minutes. Does the movie really need anything beyond that?

There's already a call for extras in Savannah, GA next month, so our interest is piqued regarding what these initial Myrtle Beach shots entail. Sure, the helicopter in the background suggests second unit shots, but we also know Tatum has recently become well-versed in the art of backflipping from above and stripping down, so...dare to dream.

"Magic Mike XXL" hits theaters July 1, 2015.
