Sometimes what you're looking for is right in front of you.

At least that's the lesson to be learned on Maroon 5's new track, "It Was Always You," off their upcoming album V.

The band has changed up their usual rock-pop anthems, and decided to incorporate some electronic synths, showing off a fresh new sound and vibe on track co-produced by The Monsters and the Strangerz.

Adam Levine croons over the electro-pop song, as he sings about crossing the line from friends to lovers and realizing that his "heart wasn't satisfied" because he wasn't with the girl with the "hazel eyes."

"Hazel eyes, I was so color blind/ We were just wasting time/ For my whole life we never crossed the line/ Only friends in my mind/ But now I realize/ It was always you," he sings.

Many are assuming that the song could be about Adam's new bride, Behati Prinsloo, whom he married during a beach-side ceremony in Mexico earlier this month.

The new track, which gives off an '80s vibe, certainly takes on a different sound from their first single, the pop-friendly hit "Maps," which is currently #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. But that should be expected since their upcoming album (September 2), is "very much all over the place."

"There’s some stuff on our record that sounds a little like early Maroon 5, and then there’s some stuff that sounds like the newer direction that we went in," Levine recently told MTV News. “I think that’s kind of the idea behind the album. It’s our fifth record. [Five] is literally part of our name. We thought we’d get back to certain elements that we’d been missing out on for a while with our original sound, but also bridge the gap with the new stuff that we’ve been doing. I think it’s an all-encompassing kind of record.”
