Kristen Bell Takes Us Behind The 2014 CMT Music Awards 'House Party'

Bell will play host in Nashville next week.

In exactly one week, Kristen Bell will host the 2014 CMT Music Awards, country music’s biggest “house party.”

“I think the way that they’re lining up the show this year and the amount of cool surprise guests and acts, I think that it should be a pretty cool show,” Bell told CMT Hot 20 Countdown while taking a break from shooting promos for the show. "I think country music is very much about the fans and that’s kind of how this show feels. It feels like it’s a big party with a lot of friends and a lot of love.”

The “Frozen” actress will return to Nashville and host the fan-voted show solo for the first time after co-hosting with Toby Keith in 2012 and Jason Aldean last year.

“It’s a safety net to have someone up there for sure, but it’s also far from the hardest job in the world cause I have a teleprompter and wonderful writers behind the show,” she said. “And the show is always produced in such a way that’s it’s so fun and fan-oriented that I think there’s kinda no way that we can go wrong.”

As for those all-important behind-the-scenes details about the live broadcast from Music City’s Bridgestone Arena, featuring performances from Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and others, well, all you really need to know is that it’ll “definitely be as cool” as that third time she threw a house party.

“It’s a lot more fun,” Bell said. “I think that country music has such a storytelling aspect, it’s like you’re talking directly to someone, so there’s this sort of extra layer of humanity, not to sound dramatic, but it’s true."

Miranda Lambert leads all nominees with six, while Bryan and FGL have five nominations each. Taylor Swift and Urban aren’t far behind with four nods.

Fans can submit votes for their favorite acts online at CMT.com through Sunday, June 1.

Watch the 2014 CMT Music Awards live Wednesday, June 4 at 8/7c on CMT.
