'Fifty Shades Of Grey': Hear The Surprising Story Behind Rita Ora's Part

Here's a hint: It didn't start as an acting role.

Rita Ora may have had a small role in "Fast and Furious 6," but that didn't make it any less surprising when the singer landed a role in one of the 2015's most hotly anticipated movies.

(Emphasis on "hotly.")

As fans of hugely popular S&M novels know, Ora will appear in the adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" set to hit theaters next Valentine's Day. The English songstress stars as Mia Grey, the sister of the infamous Christian Grey.

Ora stopped to speak with MTV News on the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards, and even though she was "sworn to secrecy," she shared what she could about the erotic thriller.

"I've seen some. I've definitely seen my parts," she said. "I'm literally sworn to secrecy, but what I can say is expect something that would really make it worth your while."

"Fifty Shades of Grey" ended up being a much-needed change of pace for Ora, who relished time away from music. "Doing the movie was probably one of the best things ever, being in Vancouver, getting out of the music and just making it work was really good," she said. "I did like eight auditions, so I thought I would never get it. It was incredible that it worked out."

The role actually came to Ora in a roundabout way. She had originally approached the production hoping to work on the soundtrack, but luckily for her, they had a different idea. "It ended up with me being in the movie," she said. "I'm not going to complain."

"Fifty Shades of Grey" opens in theaters on February 14, 2015.
