Pitbull, Ne-Yo Light Up VMA Stage

Miami beauties join dapper duo onstage but no sign of Pit's 'Give Me Everything' adversary Lindsay Lohan.

[artist id="1678002"]Pitbull[/artist]'s breakout year just got sweeter. The Cuban-American rapper hit the VMA stage with R&B singer [artist id="2002414"]Ne-Yo[/artist] on Sunday (August 28) for an incendiary rendition of his hit song "Give Me Everything."

As promised [article id="1669799"]Pitbull recruited a bevy of beauties[/article] -- along with singer/songwriter/model Nayer who also performed, rising up from center stage -- to bring some Miami flavor to the Nokia Theatre. There was no sign of [article id="1669784"]Lindsay Lohan[/article] as the performers ran through [article id="1669394"]"Give Me Everything,"[/article] Pitbull's first single to land at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was up for two VMAs in the Best Collaboration (which Katy Perry's "E.T." won) and Best Pop Video (which Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" won) categories.

Dressed in a white jacket and red pants, Pitbull spiritedly performed his verses while surrounded by scantily clad dancers. During the pre-show, the rapper, whose sixth album, Planet Pit, was released in June, expressed gratitude this weekend at the opportunity to finally rock the main stage. "Goes to show you, man: patience, passion, perseverance equals success," Pitbull told MTV News.

As for Ne-Yo, who was sporting a fedora and flexing some dance moves as he sang the song's chorus, he was a VMA neophyte too. "This is my first time performing at the VMAs, so this is going to be big," Ne-Yo told us at rehearsals.

The pair showed no signs of nerves while rocking the stage. As their performance neared its end, Ne-Yo and Pit stood in the middle of the stage, with Nayer standing in between them, as the crowd witnessed a laser light show that was totally apropos, since besides being a summer smash, "Give Me Everything" is a club anthem. He's been here awhile, but Pitbull has finally arrived.
