Colbie Caillat Recalls Breaking Dad's Grammy On 'When I Was 17'

The season premiere of 'When I Was 17,' also featuring Bow Wow and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, airs Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on MTV.

[artist id="2575099"]Colbie Caillat[/artist] knows the value of a Grammy: The singer/songwriter already has two to her name. But back when she was 17 years old, an out-of-control house party nearly destroyed one of her father's own coveted awards. On the season premiere of "When I Was 17," airing this Saturday at 11 a.m. ET, Caillat tells all about that night.

"When I was 17, we used to have parties at my parents' house all the time. This one time, hundreds and hundreds of people showed up at my house, and we thought it was really cool because it was like, 'Oh my god, all these people came!' " Caillat recalls.

The more people piled in though, the more difficult it became to keep the party under control.

"Everyone was drinking way too much, and a huge fight broke out. It was just one of those crazy parties," she says. "Different schools, no one got along. And this one guy jumped on my parents' pool table and jumped off of it to tackle this other guy, which then they hit into the wall, and there was blood on the wall. And alcohol was spit on our pool table, the front door got broken, stuff got stolen."

The front door wasn't the only thing that got broken though. "The worst part about it is that my dad's Grammy was up above our TV, and during the party, it got knocked over and it fell on the ground and broke in half," Caillat recalls.

So, how did Caillat's father react after he learned his trophy had been split in two? Tune into the premiere of "When I Was 17" to find out.
