One half of everyone's favorite scholastically overachieving duo is getting ready to tackle foes far more treacherous than any snooty college dean or playa-hating preppy classmate. Redman, whose most meaty movie role to date came opposite Method Man in "How High," is currently in Romania filming "The Seed of Chucky," the fourth sequel to the horror movie "Child's Play."

The Funk Doctor will be playing a rapper-turned-Hollywood-director and will definitely tangle with the apparently anatomically correct, knife-toting doll known as Chucky.

The last time we saw the Chuckster on film was in 1998's "Bride of Chucky," where he hooked up with a female doll and the two had relations before dying. In the new flick, the couple's child, Glen, resurrects his parents and all three head for Hollywood. As we'll find out in the movie, the apple does fall far from the tree, because Glen (voiced by Billy Boyd, who played Pippin in "The Lord of the Rings" series) doesn't share his mom and dad's appetite for destruction.

Jennifer Tilly, who voiced Chucky's wife, Tiffany, will reprise her role and will also appear in the flesh as an aspiring actress, sharing a lot of screen time with Red's character.

Red started shooting the screamer on Monday; the film is set to wrap at the end of April and hit theaters on October 29.

While Red has branched off from Method Man to fight criminally insane toys, that doesn't mean we've seen the end of that tandem onscreen. The two have a slew of films on the cooker (see [article id="1485800"]"Method Man Follows Some Strippers Around For Directing Debut"[/article]), and they just finished the pilot for an untitled sitcom. In the show, Red and Meth play rappers who move to the suburbs. Although the neighborhood kids get a kick out of the pair, the children's parents aren't so receptive.

Red's manager says we'll finally see the follow-up to 2001's Malpractice in either mid-July or August. The new album from the Brick City representative is called Red Gone Wild and features production by the same people who always take the reigns on his projects, Erick Sermon and Rockwilder. Red's protégés, the Gilla House Crew, will step in with mic cameos.
