Static-X's Long Tour Road Leads To Gold

After pounding away on the road for the better part of a year, the men of Static-X have hit sales paydirt.

The band, which borrows heavily from dance elements when crafting its new brand of metal, saw its debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip" certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on Tuesday.

The group credits a steady diet of touring with the likes of Sevendust, Coal Chamber, Fear Factory, and last summer's Ozzfest with helping them sell more than 500,000 copies of the album since its release in March of 1999.

While details of a gold record ceremony have yet to be hammered out, Static-X's record label, Warner Bros., notes that some type of presentation will likely be set up for when the band's tour with Powerman 5000 rolls into Los Angeles early next month.

As we reported last month, Static-X hopes to take things even further with "I'm With Stupid," the second video from "Wisconsin Death Trip." The band shot the video with director

David Meyers (Kid Rock, Master P, Filter, Powerman 5000) in Los Angeles recently and hopes to have it on-air in late March (see [article id="1434617"]"Disco Death Metal Mongers Static-X Get 'Stupid' For New Video"[/article]).

The group will also kick in a new track called "So Real" for the upcoming soundtrack to "Scream 3" (see [article id="1429567"]"Godsmack, System Of A Down, Staind, Orgy, Others Sign On For 'Scream 3'"[/article]).
