Iron Maiden Pulls Plug On Metal Mania Tour

Less than one week after postponing a handful of dates due to their frontman's allergies, the metal journeymen in Iron Maiden have had to cancel the remainder of their U.S. tour. In a statement released on Wednesday, the band said doctors have ordered singer Blaze Bayley to refrain from singing for the rest of the month due to his allergic reaction to the dust of the American southwest.

Last week, a doctor in Las Vegas had order the singer to rest his voice for two weeks, but the band had hoped to hit the road again soon (see [article id="1430374"]"Iron Maiden Sidelined By Pollen"[/article]). Now the band says that another doctor in Los Angeles has ordered even more rest for the singer, prompting the band to close the curtain on its U.S. tour.

We're all, obviously, hugely disappointed to lose these dates, especially as the tour was going so well," bassist Steve Harris remarked in a written statement. "We very much appreciate the tremendous support we get from

our U.S. fans, and we're all extremely sorry to let them down.

The tour's anti-climactic end is in keeping with the saga of what began as the Metal Mania tour. Originally, the bill was to have featured Iron Maiden, Dio, W.A.S.P., and Dirty Deeds, but W.A.S.P. left the tour before it began to devote more time to its upcoming album.
