Lauryn Hill Leads Nominees For 1999 Soul Train Music Awards
A month after the Grammy dust settles in Los Angeles, most of the big names in hip-hop and R&B will return to the Shrine Auditorium for the presentation of the 13th Annual Soul Train Music Awards on March 25.
Nominees for this year's Soul Train awards were announced yesterday at a press conference in Los Angeles by Brian McKnight, Monica and supermodel Tyra Banks, who is scheduled to host the event.
Like the Grammys, singer-producer Lauryn Hill landed the most nominations, receiving four nods for in the categories of Best Female R&B/Soul Single and Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video for "Doo Wop (That Thing)."
The Fugees frontwoman was also nominated Best Female R&B/Soul Album and R&B/Soul or Rap Album of the Year for "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" -- and Hill is guaranteed to take home at least one award, as she and R. Kelly have also been named recipients of this year's Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year.
