Tibet House was founded under the auspices of his holiness the Dalai Lama to help preserve Tibet's cultural heritage. Uma Thurman, whose father is a noted authority on Tibet and its long struggle against Chinese oppression, is on the concert's honorary committee.

There will also be another Tibetan Freedom concert benefit organized by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch and his Milarepa Foundation. No acts have been announced yet, but the shows are set to take place on June 13 and 14 in Washington D.C. at a venue that has yet to be determined.
