Kendrick Lamar is storming the stage.

Attention, ladies and gentlemen and aliens that may or may not exist on another planet! Kendrick Lamar is officially performing at the VMAs. You don't want to miss this.

Say hello to your host, Katy Perry.

The Witness singer will wow all you earthlings as VMA host — and as a performer. To prepare, she trained in zero gravity and ate a lot of astronaut ice cream. Judging from her "E.T." music video, she's more than ready to conquer the galaxies.

The nominations are here.

Will Kendrick Lamar stay "HUMBLE." with his whopping eight nominations? And what'll happen when he goes head-to-head with Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Lorde for Artist of the Year? See the full list of nominees.

Expect out-of-this-world performances from Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony, and more.

This year's show includes performances from Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Fifth Harmony, and Thirty Seconds to Mars. The VMAs must be the most star-studded space camp in existence.

Demi Lovato and DNCE will bring Vegas to the VMAs.

What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas — except when the VMAs are involved. This year's show includes two remote performances from Demi Lovato, DNCE, and the legendary Sir Rod Stewart. "Sorry Not Sorry" feels like a great tagline for a city like Vegas.

See the world premiere of Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" music video.

Taylor Swift made a bold return with "Look What You Made Me Do," the lead single off her upcoming sixth album. Reputation drops November 10, but fear not — you don't have to wait that long for more Tay. The "Look What You Made Me Do" music video premieres during the VMAs, just as her "Wildest Dreams" visuals debuted at the 2015 VMA pre-show.

The party continues with Gucci Mane, Logic, and Khalid.

The impressive lineup just keeps growing and growing. Prepare your eyes and ears for performances from Logic, Khalid, and breakout artists Post Malone and Julia Michaels. Gucci Mane will also be on hand to assist 5H with "Down," a contender for Best Pop, Best Choreography, and Song of Summer.

We're not done yet! Alessia Cara and Kyle are also coming along for the ride.

"iSpy" with my little eye two more performers: Alessia Cara and MTV's Push: Artist to Watch Kyle. It's their first time hitting the show's main stage, but don't underestimate these VMA rookies. Cara's powerful "Scars To Your Beautiful" is nominated for Video of the Year, while Kyle and Lil Yachty's "iSpy" is up for Best Visual Effects.

Bleachers, Khalid, and Cardi B kick off the pre-show.

The action begins on the red carpet, where Bleachers, Khalid, and Cardi B will be performing at the VMA pre-show. Tune in at 7 p.m. ET/PT — one hour before the show — to see host Lil Yachty and MTV's Terrence J, Charlamagne Tha God, and Gaby Wilson chat with your faves.

Raise your glass to P!nk, your Video Vanguard winner.

P!nk will take home the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, one of the night's most prestigious honors. She got the party started over 15 years ago and continues to churn out hit songs today. Get stoked for a special performance of "What About Us," her new single off her upcoming seventh album, due out October 13.

Cast your vote for Song of Summer.

There can only be one Song of Summer, and 2017's competition is especially fierce. Defending champs Fifth Harmony are nominated for "Down," along with Camila Cabello's "OMG," Luis Fonsi's "Despacito (Remix)," and more of your go-to jams. Who'll snag the title this year? It's all up to you, the fans! Cast your vote before Friday (August 25).

Plus, two new categories will shake things up.

Artist of the Year and Best Fight Against the System are two brand-spankin'-new categories. Following the historic example set by the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, the VMAs are also ditching gendered categories like Best Male Video and Best Female Video.

The 2017 VMAs touch down at the Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, August 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. See the full list of nominees and vote for Best New Artist now!
