When Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss are your BFFs, you know you're doing something right. But Gigi Hadid isn't one for taking credit, despite the fact that her list of campaigns and magazine covers is growing. In the behind-the-scenes video for her latest coup, the cover of Adweek's Millennial issue, Gigi deflects all praise for her 2.5 million and counting Instagram presence and shouts out her model friends for their advice.
When it comes to dealing with haters, Gigi picked up some wisdom from Kendall. "I have a lot of friends that are successful on social media and I think that I learn something different from all of them: From Kendall, I learn how to deal with the haters," she says. "She has a really good sense of when to stand up and when to back off." That's definitely true. Remember Kendall's "Burn Book?"
Karlie Kloss, on the other hand, has helped Gigi loosen up and be herself on social media. "From someone like Karlie, I think that she does such a good job of really showing who she is," she says. "She lets her personality shine in her Instagram."
As for Gigi's own tips? "The biggest tip I'd give people for personal branding is to have a feeling for your page," she suggests. "When people click on your page—whether it's a color scheme or the types of posts you do, making sure that all your pictures are really good quality, making sure they have great color, they're interesting, all of those things come together in your brand."
Spoken like a pro.
